That was Forbes’ inspiration for Johnny Tremain, the book which would win the Newbery Medal in 1943. During her research for that book, she discovered that it was a horse boy who brought word to Paul Revere that the British were ready to March. She was thought to be one of the foremost Revere scholars of her time. In fact, she won a Pulitzer Prize in 1942 for Paul Revere and the World He Lived In.
